Title: humviewer / interference issues
Post by: fishcake on April 25, 2011, 07:15:23 AM
Hi everyone,

Wondering if someone could give me some advise on a couple of issues I have been experiencing with Humviewer, No matter what settings I use on my Humminbird 997c when I view the recordings back in Humviewer the images are very messy, they have loads of verticle lines on the 2d images which are also visible of the other views.

Am I right in thinking that this is some sort of interference. On the humminbird screen itself I am experiencing some lines (interference) but when played back in humviewer the view has so many lines that there is no white background at all on the 2d view.

Does the recordings just record on max sensitivity or is it dependant of the settings within the humminbird?

Also I keep getting this message when I load a recording in Humviewer.

And I have just noticed that if I go to the 2d Down (83kHz) view there is only a few seconds of recording and then it just stops despite the recording actually being considerably longer.

Many thanks for you help

Rob

It does sound like interference.  can you post a snapshot or two.  Also how is the unit/transducer mounted.?
What is the message you get when opening the record in humview?

Hi,

Many thanks for your response, the transducer is mounted mid ship through the hull on a Beneteau Antares 6 which has an inboard engine. The unit itself is flush mounted in the dash, there is other items of electronics around it (chain counter, fuel gauge, trim tab controls).

Unfortunately I dont have any screen shots from the unit itself, so I will have to get some next time I am out which will probably be at the end of the week, so I will post them then.

The message that I am getting from Humviewer is as shown in the link in my initial post (humviewer 3) basically it says "possible illegal data" "something seems to be wrong with B000, Should contain data for ...... seconds but instead it contains data for only ........ Please note that other data may be corrupt.

 Thanks

I missed the links in your original post. I thought they were headers and had not clicked on them.
Looking back it does look as if you have interference. Can you isolate the power supply for a test?
For the data error on humview.  try reformatting the sd card. Is the sd a new card or used..(older)?
Could you have some stuff in the sd slot? maybe try to gently blow it out...

I should be able to isolate the power supply, so I will give that a try. Its an old SD card, I may buy a new one just in case its that, as I have just noticed that alot of the depths havent been recorded. There is every chance that it is dirty in the SD slot so thanks for that suggestion.

Many thanks for your help
