One SI Transducer on Pontoon
« on: June 24, 2012, 03:59:22 AM »
I have read a few different topics on this in the forums.  I have tried to message someone who tried what I am looking to do with my pontoon but no response yet so going to ask a broader audience.  Has anyone with a pontoon used just one transducer for SI and just trimmed up the motor when using it with good luck and images?  Just want to see if there is any downside to this?  The ducer is on the welded square behind the pontoon that most have for bilges and items.  I have no bilge attached to this side just a current ducer that is from my current old humminbird.  Looking to buy a SI specifically the 898 and want to be sure the images will be ok using this method.

Northernglitch. I sent you a pm(or tried to)yesterday morning.  You obviously didn't receive it. Mounting the ducer on the rear of the pontoon works fine for me. All I get for interference is a line in the water column parallel to the center line. I can still see most of the water column to port and all of the bottom. Go for it.  Please call me for more details.  I will send my # in another pm.
Mark

In case you dont receive the pm again, #seven two four, eight five four, one nine nine five. I'd be happy to discuss my experience!  Best regards, mark ;)
