Question..due to only having one SD slot, can you have the best of both worlds? Meaning, can I have a Lakemaster card and still record on it? Or do I have to choose one or the other? I have chose that I would rather record than have a Lakemaster card, but it sure would be nice. Thanks in advance. Also, will the HELIX SI eventually get its own thread like all other models?

I don't believe that you can write on a Lakemaster card. What you might do is record your trip and when you go to save it remove the Lakemaster card and put a formatted SD card in to save to. Be sure to check and see how long that you can record before you have to save it or you will loose some info.

Wait, so these units can record on their own internal hard drive while having a Lakemaster chip installed??

Only the Onix has internal hard drive space for recording and snapshots ...
All other HB units record directly to the SD Card ...
Meaning the Helix (with 1 micro SD Card slot) ... You cannot record/take snapshots and have a map card in the unit at the same time ...

Rickie, are you sure the Onix can store recordings in the internal memory? The manual describes how to save to a card, but I can't find anything about saving to some internal memory. If the units memory can be used for recordings this would be a most welcome feature!

I think you may be right Rickard ... I found this in the Onix manual ...

I also found this in the Onix manual ... That indicates snapshots can be saved internally ...

I think the AutoChart Live being able to save 8 hours of mapping data is what I was mistaking as being able to save recordings ...(I found this in the AutoChart Live manual)...
