What's new in 2013
« on: November 28, 2012, 07:51:13 AM »
I received my Bass Pro Shops Offshore Angler
magazine last night and I looked through it.

There was some mentions by both Humminbird and
Lowrance of 2013 models.

I think Humminbird had one new DI mid-priced model.
Lowrance now has a big-@ss 12.1" screen HDS model.

The good news for you 1198 owners, is that it looks like
the 1198 is still Humminbird's flagship model.  It has a ways to go
before it is considered a legacy.  There should be updates available
for it for awhile yet.

I guess Humminbird is going to showcase the 360 transducer
for 2013.
Maybe they might announce something new around February
like they did last year, but it doesn't look like there is too much
new coming out from Humminbird.

I would have thought they would be bringing out a more advanced
model than the 1198, since it's been out for a few years now.

You just never know what is going to happen in the sonar world.

The360 is yet to be made available in Australia as yet and HB distributors have no idea on a release date. Interestingly it has been advertised on the HB Australia site as "Coming Soon"? for a very long time.......Be also interesting to see what price it is set at, given everything seems to be more then $500 or more  :'( . They have recently been promoting the XDS (extreme depth range) which sonar for deep waters.

Cheers

flatcat:
Try $2000.
That's the only price I've ever seen for the 360.
In Austrailia, you may have to pay a bit more for it.

I don't know what happened to the 360.
I'm not sure if it is actually being sold anywhere.
I wonder if anyone actually has one and is using it.

Does anyone on this site have one, and if so, please
post up a review of it.

ITG,
You missed mentioning the 598ci HD Si unit.  This is a lower cost Side Imaging unit for less than a grand (MSRP $899).  I have seen it listed for just under $800 so far.  Basically a stripped down 798ci HD Si model minus the Ethernet capability, the three settable quick View buttons and only one memory card slot.  Still, a lot of bang for the buck!

Hi Greg
Bass Pro has a flyer out this week in my neck of the woods - advertising the 598 SI for $799.00. After spending the last several hrs on this great forum - I am now sold on SI and have order this unit from Bass Pro. For the amount of fishing and boating I do - this will serve its purpose. I don't need the Ethernet so no biggie for me.
Comparison: (798 SI - $1050 + 13% taxes are a little out of my range right now)
It will be on the "Boat" only..............lol
- I'm also picking up a 55 for the Ice at the same time (my Christmas Gift from the better half - she grew tired of listening to me this week - ha.....)
Thanks for your help and guidance in the past week, most appreciated!!

He is reading and typing it right Mike.
New for 2013 is a 500 series model that has full Si sonar capabilities – read two posts above…

Hmmmmm... guess Mike deleted his post!

Greg,

Yes, I removed my post once I realized that new information (and before you could reply). Thanks for making sure I didn't lead anyone astray.
