Helix 12 mega, another xducer question
« on: May 20, 2017, 05:07:03 AM »
Apologies if this question has been asked before, I've read through a few similar older threads but there might be more experience now.

I've just purchased the helix 12 mega and was wondering if I can use the y cable to run the 2D from an airmar B164 (50/200) and will that affect any of the SI/DI readings?

My previous unit was a 998SI and I had a rocker switch to go between x'ducers and I'd also have to change the XD type in the menu options.

HELIX MEGA units do indeed have a "Connected Transducer" option for Generic + 50/200kHz  ...

I do not know if any of the options affect the SI/DI performance  ...
-----

Remember that the MEGA units use a specified Y cable for the MEGA technology  ...

Ok, thanks.

My aim is to be running both together, Mega SI/DI with the mega XD and the 2D sonar with the airmar for high speed. I don't want to be switching between constantly.

All of this will be dependant on how the mega XD runs at high speed.

If the SI transducer is selected it is expecting the 2D to be 200/83
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

Thanks Bob, that's the answer that I needed. I think I'll just hook it all up like the last unit through the switch.

Unless I can find a 83/200 the same size as the B164
