Title: 797 blinking when you turn it ON
Post by: lawnman53 on October 05, 2011, 08:38:18 PM
I have a 797 on the bow of my Ranger 361, it blinks on and off until you unplug the unit. Any suggestions on a fix?
Thanks

Lawman, Sounds like a power loss.
Low batt voltage.
Elec short.
Power plug pins dirty or bent.

Go after the cheapo HB Power plug.

Does this happen with all other electrical devices turned off?
Does this only happen when the main motor is running?
Check all electrical connections.  Correct any that are not soldered, tight and clean.

Only my 797 is effected, does have anything to do with big motor or trolling motor running or not. I have a power AC adapter, while fooling around with it in the house, I dissassembled the unit, by visible inspection everything looks ok, but it is still blin king on/off, until you press on a "cooper" at the bootom of screen, then about 75% of the time the unit powers up and works fine.
Any know a good repair shop

Just the Service department here at the factory.  Call the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks at 1-800-633-1468 to set up getting your 797 in to be checked and fixed.
