ALL SI Models - Standard software naming format
« on: March 18, 2012, 05:58:13 PM »
Model:
ALL SI Models
Suggested Upgrade:
Standard software naming format
Explanation:
With the latest release of code (6.180) it is difficult to determine unit and code level from the 32 chacacter name (.bin file).
The wish is to use a standard naming convention such as been in the past.
EG:1197c_6.180
If there is a need for the 32 character name then it needs to start with the unit type (1197) followed by a version level identifier (6.180) and a date of issue (mm/dd/yy)
Then what ever HB needs for their maintenance of the  name.
If the current naming continues we will never know what level or which unit it is for.

We can rename the long name file to a short version like we are used to but if we have to talk to HB support then we need to keep a file (excel) of the long name and what we shortened it to..
Hopefully HB will see the need to go back to the shorter name...

I found out this morning that they are currently working on the long file name guys.  Not sure if/when this will get resolved though.
