Recording video
« on: April 28, 2012, 07:02:49 PM »
I am looking in my manual but it is not real clear on how to record a video on the sonar. I can not even find the screen that it shows in the book. I have a 998c SI and a 1198c SI both are about a month old. I DL the manuals about a month ago. I know HB does not always keep up with their books. But I can not imagine being that far off. Thanks for any help.

rd, Check out page 116 to 119 In the Hummingbird 1198 manual. I hope it is the same for your other unit.  Roddy

Are you trying to do sonar recordings? Make sure you have an SD card installed and then find the snapshot and recording screen and select record.

I can do snap shots. But no recordings. I do not even have a menu option for recordings.

You should be able to get to this screen.

To make it easier to start and stop a recording you might consider making one of your programmable keys  go directly to the snapshot/recording screen.

I do not get that screen. Do you have to be on the water instead of simulation to get it?

You DO NOT want to be in Simulation Mode.
You don't have to be on the water for you to be able to see it.

On your Views menu:
Make sure the Snapshot and Recording View is set to "Visible"

Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not:
On your Setup Menu:
Make sure your Sonar is set to "On".

Make sure your SD card is compatible with your unit.

I will try that this afternoon after work. I bought a SD extreme card this past week. I was told these were compatible with the HB units. I have a PNY card also that seems to work.

If you get to the screen LocDown has posted and don't see the dropdown menu, hit the menu button once ( express menu ) to bring it up.
Start recording will be at the top. Make sure it is highlighted ( up/down cursor ). Hit your right cursor button to start. Exit button once to clear the screen.
Select what view you want to watch. If working correctly, the word recording will display occasionally at the top of the screen.
To stop recording, menu once, stop recording is at top, right cursor to stop. Exit once to clear.

             Mike
