Topic: Built in Cartography INCLUDED?

Adds for 898c SI state: "new built in contour XD cartography from Navionics included w/3000 US lakes". I had nothing in my new 898c SI that I could access that was better then a 1-D childs drawing of the lake that actually looks non better then a map you would pull up on Mapquest.  Are these maps in the unit and I'm just not accessing properly? Also, I purchased the Navionics Hotmaps Platinum South and it advertises 3-D and satellite imagery in addidtion to contour maps with 1' lines. All I get is the lake map with contour lines(and no creek channels). How are the other features of the map chip pulled up on my 898? Love the depth finder but maps are really challenging me.  The lakes I've tried it on are listed as listed as HD in the Navionics website. Thanks for the help, Neil

Thanks, can't post a "snapshot" yet as I do not have a blank SD card or SD reader for my PC.....Yet! I'm actually getting a good contour map with the Navionics platinum lake map chip installed.  But only when reading the Navionics chip, not from whatever is installed in the unit. What I cant get is the 3D or satillite imaging when the unit is reading the card...just the contour map. I'm sure it's there, I just dont know how to access them. Neil

All of the 898 units were shipped out with the ContourXD maps.  Not all of the lakes shown will have depth contour lines on them.  The few that I looked at that did, had 10 or 20 foot depth contour lines but that was it.  I have a list of the included lakes but not which have the depth contour lines on them.

I do have the Platinum Cartography manual which should be the information that you need.  Send me a direct e-mail requesting this.
