Topic: Placement of 898si hd transducer

Any suggestion on placement of 898si transducer on 2014 nitro Z7 . First glass boat want to make sure before drilling holes.heard both transom and step. No jack plate just not sure thanks in advance

Hard to tell enough from the single picture you posted but it looks like the hull has sponsons that project backwards from the hull on the right (and I assume left) side.  Is that true?  If so, than you either have to mount the transducer low enough on the flat area of the transom next to the motor mount such that the HDSi transducer can project the right and left Si sonar beams under the sponsons or you will have to mount it on the (less protected) step if there is even enough room for that.
More pictures of the transom of your boat would help here.

Here are a few more pics.will a shield from transducer shield and saver work . Just to the right of the motor mount underneath on the step . The only flat spot. Thanks

I don’t know if a shield from Transducer Shield & Saver will work or not Dgr57, but if that is the only flat spot that may be where you have to make it work.

My original post indicated to mount it either where the red arrow or green oval is (marked up your first picture).  There may be a third option: use the TS&S mounts to install it up under the setback area (purple arrow).

Thanks Greg for all your input . If you think the transom is the best place for it and that's were I will get the best picture that's were I will put it. I just suggested the ts&s on the step so I didn't have to trim the motor up so it wouldn't block the si. Thanks again

If you are concerned about trimming the motor up so the left Si sonar does not get blocked maybe you should use the TS&S mounts and install it on the step.  I don’t know what clearance you have between the lower unit of the motor and the transom.  Got a jackplate or not – I could not tell from the pictures for sure but would guess not.  I only recommended the transom area so the transducer would be better protected.

What are you wanting from the 2D sonar?  If you want high-speed depth readings you need to think about either mounting it low on the step (exposing it to more possibility of damage) or installing an XP-9-20 inside-the-hull 2D transducer and an AS-Si-DB-Y cable.
