Navigation, Uploads and Downloads
« on: June 08, 2012, 03:33:28 PM »
So I'm finding the navigation part of the 898 the most challenging to master so far.  I would appreciate any help of course.  I created a user track of 8 points along an underwater hump in Humviewer.  I saved/exported to HumminbirdPC as a .gpx file and then Uploaded the track to my SD card.  I can see the track and the 8 gps coordinates in HumminbirdPC, but I can't figure out how to locate and then "GOTO" or follow the track with the 898 on the water?  Does that make sense?  I'm pretty sure the info is on the SD card in the matrix folder, but I can't figure out how/where to access it and use it with the unit.  Grrr.  I am wanting to troll along and/or vertical jig for walleyes along this hump.  Also, on my chart/navigation screens,  every recording I have made so far shows up on these screens.  I can't see a darn thing, because of all of these tracks on my chart screens.  How do I get rid of or clear them?  Sorry if this sounds jumbled, but I'm describing my problems to the best of my ability at the moment.... Thanks.

Mark

I took 6.18 off my 998, but I think your answer is in the first two choices under Navigation tab.

 1.    Current Track-- save
                               clear
                               appearance
stop tracking--- This should keep anymore tracks from being recorded.

  2.   Waypoints, Routes, Tracks--- several choices--- cursor right & up/down to expand options-- delete all nav data is in there-- I THINK.
Just to be safe, remove any SD cards before delete all nav data.

Do this at your own risk !  I can't go out to the boat to verify this.

Mike, a belated Thank you! for the advice.  I have resolved both of my issues.  I figured out the "user track" problem on my own.  It was just a case of putting the sd card in the slot before powering the unit up.  This must be done AFTER the unit is already powered up under v6.180 as I've now read in several other threads to transfer sd card info to the unit.  This is going to drive folks nuts until everyone has gotten the info on the new protocol.  I suspect most will figure it out on their own through trial and error.
