It may have loaded, but you might not see anything different, unless
you are on a lake/river/reservoir that's on that particular map.

If you're sitting at home looking at your unit, and the nearest
water on that map is 200 miles from you, then you won't see
anything different.

On your Humminbird map screen, you should be able to scroll
to one of the waters on the map and see if you can see any detail.

Set your Chart Detail to 'All', and your Spot Soundings to 'Visible'
on your unit so that you can see everything the map offers.

robbie48, Check to see if the card is compatible with your unit.

try zooming out so you can see all of north america and reloading the card.... I had the same problem and that cured it right up....

If the map card worked in your Matrix 97 unit, than it should also work in your 898 unit – even if your 898 has older software in it.

Basically it is just plug and play here as long as you are trying to view an area that is covered by the mapping card.

Try testing your mapping card in someone else’s Humminbird unit to see if they can view any of the map detail.  The map card may have just went bad or the card readers in the 898 may have failed.  Confirm which it is by using a different unit.

I am having a similar issue with my 898, Mine will load and then drop the data. Was wondering if when you go to the GPS diag screen does the card show up in the card slot block? Can you download your data from your unit to another card with out issue? My Nav chip has a micro card inserted into a SD normal card. Does yours? I find that occassionaly my micro card becomes dismounted from the Regular card. Or the lock button becomes unlocked.

Maybe your map card isn't making a good connection inside the slot. Cut a small piece off a business card and wedge it  on the opposite side of the card that has the pins

If the above doesn't work, I would  first try the map card in both slots.
If that doesn't work, then remove the map card.

Then, reset your unit to default settings, then
set your Chart Detail to 'All', and your Spot Soundings to 'Visible'.
Then re-insert the card.

You know, it may also take some time for the maps to load into your unit.
It's not instantaneous.
Wait a minute or so for the 'Loading' message to go away.

If none of the above works, I'd go ahead and apply the newest
update and try again.

Good Luck.
