Title: 898SI transducer and high speed transducer mounting
Post by: jgcox6 on January 04, 2013, 02:48:25 PM
Hey folks, I have a 898 SI that I am going to mount the transducer on my transom of a 2003 Bass Tracker Pro 185 aluminum boat.  I have read and even seen a couple of pics about folks mounting the SI transducer directly above a high speed transducer.  I want to mount my SI transducer higher up on my transom to protect it from damage,,,and use the high speed ducer to provide readings when on plane.  So my questions are:

1) If I mount the SI ducer above the high speed ducer, will I not see the bottom ducer on my DI screen shot as well SI one...because the SI transducer sends out a DI beam straight down also right?

2)  Does the 898SI unit automatically know that the high speed transducer is connected...or will i have to change a menu selection every time I get ready to go on plane?  If so what menu selection?
