Title: Solix Voltage Supply Issues
Post by: G48 on September 20, 2019, 05:15:56 PM
Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone was having voltage supply readings on their graphs different from actual battery voltage. I have a Solix 12 on the bow and a 10 at the console. I have a house battery (optima d34m) and it has a fuse panel and cutoff switch dedicated to it. I have an ethernet switch , both finders, a stereo and ipilot link running off it. My 12 reads .7V below and 10 read.5V below while sitting in garage and battery hooked to charger (battery reading 13.4 at the time in float mode). Went to lake the other day and turned on the 10 at the launch and it showed 12V. I have the boat at tracker marine getting routine service and other stuff done now and before I pickup I would like to address this voltage drop ie, if I need bigger wiring to the fuse panel since they installed that 2 years ago. I maybe overthinking this and I don't want any future electrical problems because of it.. I'm just used to prior finders reading correctly. Not so electrically inclined and appreciate any and all feedback. Oh..tt hummingbird other day and the main take away was to turn down brightness..I get that but it didn't solve problem.. she did tell me the 12 pulls 2.88 amps and the 10 2.44.

I'm not so electrically inclined and appreciate any and all feedback.

Thanks

The voltage readout on the display is under load and will always be lower than the actual battery voltage state  ...

Nevertheless  ... SOLIX is very voltage sensitive and wiring should be larger than most dealers install  ...

For a 20ft run, some are using 10 gauge minimum for a single unit direct to battery  ... Longer runs would need even larger  ...

For a fuse block, some are using 8 or even 6 gauge to the fuse block - and then 10 gauge to a single unit  ...

Thanks Rickie,

The fuse panel has all same size small red wires going to it..not sure what is going to battery but the house battery is right under my bow seat in the center console and the distance from both graphs to the battery is about 6-8 ft in either direction. My voltage variance is not as great as some others I've heard so the load from the graphs makes sense..I will run it by the service manager tom. and see what his thoughts are.

Thanks Again,

Gary
