The newest version of the HumViewer can be downloaded from this download link (http://humviewer.cm-johansen.dk/).

Please any issues, comments and questions here: http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=155.0 (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=155.0)
That will also be the place that new releases will be announced.

Thanks Robert, I will try to...

I am working on adding some measurement utilities to the program. I had to find my old dusty geometry book  :)
Hope I will be ready with a new version with that (and a few other improvements) in a few days.

Hi, Martin!
Good work !!
After saving track in .gpx format, program DrDeph does not distinguish depth from a file.
How it to treat?  :)

This is awesome! Thank you so much.
It works flawlessly on all of my data and it really helps to see both 2d and SI in one view.
If .gpx  output  also contains depth then drdepth could import it too for bathymetric mapping, since the HB PC program has issues with long tracks containing depth data.
Keep up the good work, this is a big contribution to our community.

reso

one question:
Is it possible to select the 2d sonar: i.e. 200 Khz or 83 Khz if available? What is displayed right now, 200 Khz I assume?

thanks,

reso

Hi Reso
You are right that it is currently the 200kHz recording that is shown as 2D. I have actually already made the change, so from the next release the program will load all recordings so you can choose which one to show (or both side-by-side).

Hi Martin,

wow, I'm impressed!
Excellent job you did. I really like your "HummVee"!

One thing that I haven't figured out yet is how to change the colour. Mine runs in grey (default) only.
I tried to change the colour both with the dropdown menus in the page as well as with the colour model editor from the tools menu.

Any suggestion where I'm not smart enough  :)?

Thanks Martin for your outstanding work!

Hi Harald

I agree the HumViewer is excellent.

When changing colors did you hit the "Apply" button?  When I started I could not get the system to run because I did not use the play button.

Hi Harald
I think George is right. You must hit the Apply button before the change is activated.

And before you get too uses to hitting the Apply button. The button is removed in the next release  ;)

I woud like to add my accolades to Martin and his fine piece of work.

If I may ask to add to any wishlist the request for a trackplot window to the wishlist so that we can get some reference of where the images tie into the path we took.

Also, I have noticed that on the bottom of the screen it lists "depth" which seems to change with cursur movement and matches distance to the side instead of depth.

Thanks again for what you have provided.

Hi diver651
You are correct about the 'depth at mouse' is actually the distance to the side when you are looking at a SI view.
But if you look at a 2D Down image, then it is the depth.
To make it even more complicated on a SI view the distance is actually also the depth until you reach the bottom return.
I have made a small change so that the text show the above.

By a trackplot, do you mean like a 2D coordinate system where the whole track is drawn and some kind of marker telling you where current position of the sonar image is shown ?
That could be fun to make  ;D

Gert!
You're too optimistic what the boat concerns.

Never heard this phrase?:
There are TWO happy days in the life of a skipper:
The day he gets his boat and...
the day he gets rid of it!  ;D

After the "adventures" with my boat this spring, I cannot deny that there might be some truth in this, hehe.

Thanks for the tips guys, but somewhere I miss something.
If I use the drop down menus in the page, there is just the Gray scale (default) option showing up. Using the Color Model Editor from the Tools tap highlights only the right drop down menu, but that doesn't show any options to choose from. Just Gray scale.

EDIT: Found out why I couldn't change the colors: Forgot to save the Color models file in the same folder with the rest of the HummVee files  ::).

Martin,

Yes, that is what I meant. In the area where I use my unit the rivers and creeks twist and turn and having a track plot window that you can turn on/off helps visualize where the image is, and what the conditions are in the recording (turning, bottom contour, etc).

Once again though - you have a really easy to use viewer that will certainly make many, many people happy.

Thanks.

Great great job...

I like this software. More extras and it would be brilliant.

Thank you for all your work...  :)

Hi Martin:

I just downloaded your software today.  Looks really good!  I have developed a converter which allows the SON files to be viewed in Lowrance's SonarViewer, but this is much nicer and has more functions.

Thanks for the hard work!

Version 3.031 is working fine.  Good program.  It really helps to have this kind of viewer.  It might be nice to have a selection for location display.  (GPS)  I could use the DD.DDDDD format.  Also when going to Google they display in DD MM SS.dd.  Hopefully we can all get together.   Chuck

Chuck,
You can select what format you want the coordinates to display in Google Earth.

Have just downloaded and started to use V3.  I'm very impressed with it.

One thing that I noticed was that it displays depth in metric (m).  My 997 that I capture my data on is a US Domestic model that only displays imperial (ft).  Does HumViewer automatically correct or does the metric data automatically get saved in the .son?

The depth is actually saved as metric data in the .SON files.

It makes me wonder why the US models will not show metric values   :-\

Maybe:
Because if the U.S. models will show metric, al lot of international user will tray and buy the cheaper u.s. units from anywhere instead of buying from the localized Distribution Partners ?  ;D

If your interested in saving a buck the non-metric US Model is still a very attractive option.  I bought one, I couldn't justify paying double the price.  Also I normally use knots and feet.  having Temperature in ceclius would be good but I know the conversion so even that doesn't worry me to much.  The one that disappoints me the most is the time/date selection...

This information want make those who want to use metric in the US on the US Domestic Model happy.

HumminBird will have some explaning about this I think, particularly with the release of the Lowrance product which has no such restrictions.

HumView is a great product.

Adam,

This has been known for several years now!  We cracked the HB format not long after it was released.

Regardless if the data was stored in Metric or Imperial, the conversion is simple and is done on the fly.  This has been know for years now that the format was in a metric format and then converted.  From a mathematical and programming standpoint, this is the easiest way to do it and is more accurate.  The data that is stored is basically the digital information in its purest form.

And to be correct, the data is not stored in its pure "Metric" display format.  Lets take the speed for example.  It is stored as whole number that represents 1/10 of a meter/second.  Now, this number still needs to be converted to its display format of either km/h, mph, or knots.  So if the number stored in the HB format for speed is 212, then converted to m/s would be 21.2 m/s.  And to convert to mph, you just multiply that number by 2.236936.  Or for km/h, multiply it by 3.6.  And for knots, 1.943844.

So you can universally compute what ever format you want from this simple method of storing data.  What I am saying is, no matter how its stored, it can easily be converted to and from both formats.  Metric just makes more sense when working with numbers and converting data.

I don't think the issue on why Humminbird decided to create a US version and an International version has changed because of this.

Does HumViewer Ver 67 run well on Windows 7  64 bit version?  I suspect that HumViewer is a 32 bit program and should be installed in the Windows 7 Program Files (x86) folder to run properly?

Hi Martin....

I seem to be having an issue when exporting a CSV file for position / depth data. The export options dialog box appears to be cropped and needs to be expanded manually as well as no file being output or written.

I would definitely like the CSV option to work as soon as possible, since I am testing some features for post processing.

Could XYZ export with the ability to choose units (vertical & horizontal) meters or feet be added?

Both KML & GPX exports seem to be working as they should.
