Title: Viewing recordings on PC
Post by: bikerbob on October 15, 2013, 10:12:56 AM
Is there any way to view recordings made on my 998c of sonar recordings made out on the lake?  From all I can find you are only able to view these recordings, saved on your SD card, on the Humminbird unit only.......not very practical!!  I would find it much easier to learn from these recordings on my laptop or PC!  These recordings appear to have a .dat file extension.  Anyone have information on this topic?

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums bikerbob.

Try looking in the Other 3rd Party Software areas of this web site.  There are several 3rd party programs that utilize the sonar recording information from your 998c HD Si unit.

Humviewer is probably most popular.  Allows you to view recordings and make waypoints or tracks from it.
Also set HV to have the HB Brown palette from this forum.

DeepviewFV viewing is very clear and sharp, but viewing only.  Will need to use the Son2XTF converter.

And some like YellowFin.  Will need to use the HBSI Sonar Data File Converter.
