I have a helix 10. It's networked to (2) helix 9 sonar combos and (1) 1198 HD si.
My setup was the as Grs external GPS puck to my 1198, the pig tails from this GPS puck were wired to my merc monitor. (4800 baud nmea). I used the external as Grs on my network for GPS as the ducer is mounted right beside it.
I figured I would add a AS GPS HS, this would be nice for casting rings and using my auto chart live maps when a shore reference isn't available.
My plan was to just replace the GRS PUCK with the new AS GPS HS. however, issues soon arose.
1. The baud rate for as Grs is 4800. Which is te only rate merc monitor uses.
The baud for the AS GPS HS is 38400. So I figured ok no prob. I'll leave that puck hooked up to my 1198 as is. And I'll connect the heading sensor to the helix and all would be good as my helix 10 is purely used as a mapping unit. It's mounted to the left of my 1198 at counsel. And the 1198 is purely for sonar.
Here's where my hair started to turn grey.
The helix will not in any way recognize the external GPS. No option in network, no heading options in nav menu etc. the heading sensor works excellent when hooked up to te 1198. And networked to the helix. And I would leave it this way. But I need the 4800 baud from the as Grs to get GPS data to my merc monitor. Any help? I've seen videos where this is possible and I e seen 10s with ext GPS. I'm going to hook up the as GPS HS to my helix 9s tonight and see if they will recognize it.
I'm thinkin it's a software issue with 10s.

Both of my helix 9s are working properly. When the ext GPS is connected. It appears in the network settings. So the issue is with my 10. Now to try figure out if it's software. Or perhaps a open circuit or warranty issue

You might try disconnecting the 10 from the network and test the AS GPS HS antenna ...
The AS GPS HS antenna only requires 6.570 and I would think your 10 came with a higher version than that ...

It is my understanding if you have selected the HS GPS in network settings you must power cycle (shut down) for it to switch to that GPS on the Helix.
You may have to connect the HS to a Helix 9 or the 10 - I'm not sure the 1198 will have backwards sharing capability.

I can hook up the Heading sensor to my 1198 and it works as it should. I am able to share it in the network on all units. I am also able to hook it up to my 9 and share it on all units. The only issue is when I have it hooked up to my 10. The problem is isolated to the 10. I have another 10 I'm going to borrow to see if it's a software thing in the latest update. Or if it's just an issue in my individual unit I do know that the 10s do accept the external GPS, as there are vids online. However they may be 1.1. And I'm 1.2.
Sure stumped me, first time I have had any trouble with my birds. I have run 3-4 graphs on my boats for years. And am still excited about the helix units. The autochart live is proving to be a great tool. And the reflex operating system didn't require me to learn a whole new system. Also networking with the core units was a huge factor. I kept my 1198 si unit and added a helix 10 and 2 helix 9s. The 9s are kinda weird looking with that little screen. But the price point is great. Sharing my si and di from my 1198 resulting in huge savings as well. Made it that much of an easier decision to upgrade the units.
Thanks and I hope some of this info may be able to help someone else. But I dunno how many guys are using AS GPS HS anymore. Seems the internal GPS units make having to mount a puck somewhere just that much more unwanted.

Gotcha.
Well , I read there were S/W issues with the Helix 12's and myself and a few others rolled back to v1.15 from v1.21.
Nothing related to H/S I know of some; mapping issues and RFI issues.
There is a ACL mapping bug common to all Helix that HB Is working on, but that's it AFAIK.
You will have to consult HB and see what they say on your issue.

Yup HB will get a chance to see it. I am just gonna run it off one of my 9s. Share it on network. Works fine. But I'll be sending the 10 in for repair this winter if future software updates do not correct the issue. I have logged about 40 hours with ACL and haven't had one glitch with my 10. So far I'm lucky. Although I do know of several people
