Humminbird "wide View"
« on: January 12, 2014, 03:35:14 PM »
Have a boat with a humminbird "wide View". That is all it says on the face of the unit. It uses a shoot thru the hull transducer. Does anyone know if I can "Y" this into a 998c HD SI and it work.

thanks in advance.

I don't think so ..

I have a old Wide View at home, and the transducer pinouts seems different than newer transducers.
I could be wrong though. Ask Humminbird directly?

You can but…
That should be one of the original Dual Beam transducers (200/455kHz), the DP-W.  It does use a somewhat different pin configuration.  Most importantly though is that the connections for the 200kHz are right for using with your 998c Si unit.  However, the 200kHz sonar beam will be a narrower 16 degree beam, so your 200kHz 2D sonar may appear slightly stronger than what you are used to.  Also, the element for this transducer was never designed for the second 2D frequency (83kHz) so I don’t know how well that will work for you.

sounds like I will be removing it, if possible.
