Good evening everyone,
Hope you are having a good day. I would like to hire someone to build a towfish and equipment for a side scan sonar project. I am college student and study underwater crime scene investigation program at Florida State University. If you are interested then contact me
Thanks
Jason

Jason,
Welcome to the forum. There are quite a few members who have built quality towfish and I am sure would be willing to help you. If no one else responds, I can certainly put one together for you or recommend someone who can.
Good Luck,

All right, I would like to build a tow fish and want to use sonar software on my MacBook Pro. Anyone would guide me how to build it and find the software? I appreciate it.
Thanks

Hi Jason
A towfish consists of a slender elongated arms (tubular or rod) of 80-120 cm in length. At the front end a ballast weight and at the rear end, a empennage (wing or the pipe ends). Approximately at the end of the third and the bottom of the transducher fixed in the match area on the upper side there is a hole rail for vareablen attachment of the trailing cable.
The weight of the towfish and the cable length is ausschlagged For the achievable towing depth. As trailing cables come very expensive special cables or cheaper network cable (Cat 7) with self-made strain relief up to a length of 120m used. Another possibility is the extension cable of HB (max, 3x10m, 5x will certainly work) that must be provided with an additional strain relief.

Hi Robert
I think the design I stole from you 8), a lot of experience so I have not yet, but it is running well behind the boat.

Hi Jason
Here in the forum there was already a link to a venal towfish (but no transducher and towing cables), which was made of an iron pipe.
You must therefore look for something in the forum.
