Title: Humviewer and Helix Sonar File incompatibility
Post by: mako9man2 on February 11, 2017, 08:04:43 AM
I have a Helix 12si KVD that I use to make Sonar recordings.  I can load these files  (R00025.DAT for instance) into HUMVIEWER following the instructions on the LakeImages training video).  I can edit these original files in Humviewer and create new files (R0025A.DAT for instance) which might be short segments of a particular track.  BUT  I can not load these edited files (R0025A.DAT) back into HUMVIEWER.

Is anyone else using Humviewer to edit HELIX sonar data and have you experienced any problems?

I did some experimenting with recordings from my 1197 ...

On my 1st attempt to make a sub-recording, I clicked the start point and end point of the sub-recording in the SI image pane ... This sub-recording failed to reload into Humviewer like you described ...

I then closed Humviewer and deleted the sub-recording files created so I could start from scratch again ...

On my 2nd attempt to make a sub-recording, I clicked the start point and end point of the sub-recording in the 2d image pane ... This sub-recording loaded successfully into Humviewer  ...

Now with every attempt to make a sub-recording, I can click the start point and end point of the sub-recording in either image pane (2d or SI) and the sub-recording will successfully load into Humviewer ...

Thanks rnvinc.
I tried your method with no success.  However my issue is not as bad as it seemed at first.  While I can't open the edited file with Humviewer I can open it in Autochart Pro and create a map which was my ultimate goal.

There may something different with the HELIX recording vs my 1197 recording ...although I don't know what it would be ...

Hopefully someone with a HELIX can test this and post results here for you ...
