Delete Update from SD Card ??
« on: March 26, 2010, 12:32:26 PM »
I have updated my 997........ do I need to save the update on my SD card?

Or should I delete it to make space for my image captures?

I am thinking I can delete the update but I want to make sure first.

You can do several things.... 1)delete it........ 2) copy it to your PC.  If you delete it you can always download again if needed.     Storing it on your PC gives you quick access to the file but you will have to remember it  is there.  In case you wanted to give it to someone else.
I  would just delete it.   chuck

Thanks for the reply I will just delete the update.

This way I will have my SD card empty and ready to fill up with screen captures.

another thought.  snapshots are fine and do not take up all that much room.  Recording on the other hand can get quite large.  if you are recording try to keep track of the time and not let the files get bulky.  Remember that while recording you cannot take a snapshot either.    Good luck.     Chuck

As far as the data on your SDHC card, you may want to keep it on your computer, then if it becomes significantly you may want to burn it on a CD.  I keep my SDHC cards empty, the last thing you want to do is run out of space when recording a new area.  I have two cards so that I always have an empty one, if I want to look at old data it can be reloaded on to a card to review.  I use Humviewer most of the time to review my data which is kept on the computer, but it does not cover maps and a few other things, for these other areas we have to look at it on the unit.

As cheap as cards are...I keep 4 on my boat ....

Sometimes it's a day or two before I can get my recordings off the SD card onto the PC...

I never want to run out of recording space while I'm on the water.....
