1197c loosing Interlink and GPS
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:30:48 AM »
I to have an 1197 and 786 interlinked with humminbirds gps and I am losing gps data to the 1197. Have to power down both units to get gps back to the 1197. Wiring is not the problem and neither is voltage. We use our units for SAR for low speed passes looking for drowned subjects, don't know about high speed passes. GPs puck is mounted 24" above boat with clear field of view, no obstructions on boat. Have current software installed on both units.
Help please!!!

pmburesh,

Since your issue may different, I split this topic off from the other one.

How do you have your GPS connected?  And which GPS do you have; GR16, GR50, or GRHA?

If you have it hooked into the Interlink and use a GR50 or GRHA, make sure you power on the 1197 first and let it lock on the GPS.  The 786 does not have the power to handle the newer GPS GR50 and GRHA.

Also, make sure you have good batteries and a main bus that is large enough to handle all the loads on your electronics.

Let me know your setup specifically how you have everything wired and we can start troubleshooting.

Have the Gr-50 GPS. Will try powering the 1197 first and let you know.

Hello,

Do you specifically have this issue when you are navigating to a waypoint? Mine will loose GPS @ 3-5 min after starting "navigation", like clockwork. All systems normal if not navigating, I assumed the newest software was supposed to fix this issue, but I have not installed it yet.
