Attention Greg: 360 transducder question
« on: March 28, 2014, 12:43:50 PM »
Hi Greg,
Soon (I hope), I will be updating my 1197.
Not sure yet, if I'll get an 1198 or 1199.
Eventually, I will get a 360.

I am using the AS GRHA gps receiver, which I understand is the most accurate that Humminbird has ever produced.
I undersand that the 360 comes with the Heading Sensor gps receiver, which is not as accurate as my gps receiver.

I'm thinking of anchoring the boat, and setting the 360 to look in different quadrants (Front, Back, Left, or Right).
If I keep my current gps receiver, will I be able to orient where the quadrants
are on the 360 screen, in relation to my boat?

I will have two anchor lines out.  If the answer to the first question is no, will
I be able to get my quadrants/bearings by seeing my two anchor lines in the water?

The heading sensor is neat, especially for slow trolling, but is it the only way we can tell where the boat is facing related to what is shown on the 360 screen?

Thanks in advance.

ITG,
You are going to have to use the Heading Sensor GPS Receiver for the 360 to be able to know its bearing.  I’m not sure what would happen if it is not used.

Bummer.
OK,
Then could I have two GPS sensors on the boat with some type of switch
to select the one I want to use?

ITG,
Are you planning on having more than one Humminbird unit on your boat that will also be connected to the 1198/1199 via Ethernet?  If so, then each unit can have its own GPS Receiver and you can select which one you want to use.

Otherwise, we don’t make a GPS Receiver switch.  You could probably make one as it would be a simple two position switch with two lines being switched.

No,
I will only have one unit at mission control.
Thanks for the info.
