Fish finder and I piolot
« on: July 21, 2015, 02:17:29 PM »
Just wondering which finder works the best in the 800 series to 1100 do they all work the same except for screen or does any one have a combo that they think works good together any comment or input would be appreciated as this is a fair size investment with the sonar Gps and trolling motor.

Thanks

To get better information, you need to specify more of the model number .... Some units are 2D only, some are 2D and DI, and some are 2D, SI, DI.

I will assume you are asking about the SI series ......The 8-1100 series are all going to operate pretty much the same except the screen size .... but the 899 comes standard with a compact SI transducer.  Humminbird will exchange the compact transducer (for an upgrade fee) if you contact them before opening the packaging on it.

You might take a look the the Onix units also .... as some say, they are newer technology and more "future proof."  The NT (which don't have touch screens) series will be more affordable.

Would like both si/di/and 2D so I will look into the newer onix but think I would stay away from touch screen as I would think finger prints on the screen would not be that good.

Thanks for now

The DI will be better on the Onix than the core SI units......I don't have the Onix, but I personally wouldn't go with the touch screen either.....I think the non touch units also don't have as much glare on the screen as the touch units.
Some who have the touch units say it is worth the extra money because you can do some thins faster .... especially helps with waypoint management.

Been doing some reading on this forum about the onix and am finding hard to find anyone who is happy with them
Maybe they put this unit out before it was really ready. Think I am going to have to go with the more proven machine's the 800 or 900 series.

I'm happy with my Onix ... It's an interesting piece of technology ... (definitely more versatile than core units) ...

Onix DI is outstanding ...

2d and mapping are about even with my 1197 ...

SI is better on my 1197 ...

My OCD is not playing well with the touch screen fingerprints ...

I use the buttons most of the time ...

There is not a trolling motor style Onix xducer ...

You can use this adapter bracket ...
http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AD-STM-7/

Or You can check with Transducer Shield and Saver ...
