Downscan transducer at an angle?
« on: March 03, 2015, 10:32:40 AM »
I seem to remember someone tried rotating the DownScan transducer at an angle to see if it might be used as a "look ahead" sonar of sorts.  I can't find the post for the life of me.  Anyone else remember this or have a picture of what it might look like?

I have not seen that but there are several post about rotating a HDSI to get better down-images.

It is possible to "aim" any xducer in any direction ... You just have to know how to interpret the echoes on the display ...

Vik3 has been doing this for a while now ...

Here is some of his stuff ...maybe he will check in soon ...

Thanks Rickie.  That thread is even more interesting than the one I was thinking about.  Apparently he swept the transducer back and forth 180 degrees to get the resulting images.  Interesting...
