iPilot Link follow the contour questions
« on: July 28, 2016, 04:15:38 PM »
Just got my boat set up with iPliot Link on the Terrova 80 connected to my 999HD SI. I love the follow the contour feature but had a couple questions:
1) Is there any easy way to pause the follow if you have to unsung a hook for instance , or go to spot lock while unhooking a fish, and then resume the follow simply without having to go thru the entire process of choosing your contour etc.
2) Similarly, is there a way to quickly change contours without stopping the motor and restarting on a new contour. Too easy to tangle up lines on a windy day.
Thanks a lot for any and all responses.

I don't think so.......... I find that if I turn off the trolling motor and I drift slightly off course or if there is a decent wind that the follow the contour cant pick up where I left off, its quite finicky but then  I do fish on a river with current
I don't use follow the contour so there may be another way???
instead I  will just use heading to a particular waypoint

If you turn off the "constant on" the turn it back on, it should resume follow the contour. If you go to "spot lock", it will lose your follow the contour setting.

To change a contour from existing one to new one, you have to go through the whole process of selecting the new contour. There is no quick and easy way to change a contour to another on the fly.

The manual says spotlock is the only way to pause and resume follow the contour. Trolling other than a bottom bouncing type setup(ie: long line or lead core using multiple rods) is problematic with changing or pausing contour following. I find I can just use manual control with autopilot while landing fish and such. Snags require the usual fire drill to reel in all the other lines. I have decided the snagged line, lure and all are the sacrificial lamb. Hold on tight and hope the hook just straightens out. Changing on the fly is a bit tricky, I usually try changing the offset but it can be tricky as well, just fewer steps. Bob
