Where to mount Gps

Should I mount my gps as closer to my unit or transducer?

The preferred location is as close to the transducer as you can get.

The head unit is just the display ...

The structure you are marking is under the xducer ... Therefore the reason for the GPS to mark coordinates relative to the xducer=structure under it ...
