Post by: matt@reefmaster on September 07, 2013, 05:03:07 PM
ReefMaster v1.4 has been released, with some exciting new features and improvements.
To update to the latest release, restart the ReefMaster application. An active internet connection is required.

Integrated help
The help manual has been comprehensively updated, and is now downloaded with the application as a windows help file. Use the new help button in the main toolbar, or click F1 at any time to view the help file. The new manual is also available as web-help (http://reefmaster.com.au/reference/index.htm?contextid=10).

Comprehensive new map making tutorial with demo files
Follow the new tutorial, with demo track and shoreline files included, here (http://reefmaster.com.au/reference/index.htm?contextid=310)

Live Mapping via NMEA 0183
[attachimg=1]
Link up to two NMEA 0183 devices to your laptop to create maps in real time. Position and depth data can be combined from different devices; for example, take depth data from a dedicated sounder unit, and supply position data from a Bluetooth GPS puck, or even use your smart phone.
Maps can be edited and viewed in 3D whilst they are being generated, and GPS position data can be overlaid on any of the views.

Export Google Earth contours - view maps on your mobile device

A new export option has been added to generate Google Earth KMZ files with contour lines and ReefMaster waypoints. There are a range of map styling options, including zoom-dependent minor contours, colour coded contour lines and water-body background colours. Maps can be loaded onto Google Earth for iOS or Android for use on the water.

Changes to map grid resolution
Some changes have been made to the way grid resolution is set for contour generation, which now allows the finest resolution to be used even for very large maps.

Changes to user map simplification
Path simplification in user maps has been overhauled. Tracks are no longer simplified by default when they are added to user maps, and the level of simplification for each path within the map can be individually adjusted, if required.

New support forum
We’ve got a brand new forum (http://reefmaster.com.au/index.php/forum/index) on the ReefMaster website. Please drop in to say hello, post pictures of your map projects and ask any application related support questions.
