White Lines on SideImaging ONLY when recording?
« on: July 08, 2015, 12:12:33 PM »
Has anybody ever experienced lines like this on the display as well as logs, but ONLY when recording?

Nope, nothing else on, even when I shut the main motor down and drift it is the same.

Ran a 12v supply from a separate battery just for the ONIX, still the same.

I've experimented with recording the Onix Simulator ...

There is an anomaly that seems more noticeable at Chart Speed 5 or above ...

I do not know if this is evident in live on the water recording as of yet ...

That is VERY similar, I use chart speed 5 - is it too high?

This is definitely an anomaly ... There should be nothing like this at any chart speed chosen for the recording ...

This is similar to the software bug in the older core unit versions where the DI image (in a HB SI unit) had these same lines at Sharpness On ...

Maybe you could post this same question at the bbc HB forum ...

Those guys have way more butt-time with the Onix than I do ...(and some of them have direct contacts for reporting this type of bug) ...

Here is another shot of the Simulator recording at Chart Speed 2 ...

The white lines are not evident at this chart speed ...

Most of the bass boys don't use Chart Speeds above 3-4 (to match 3-4mph boat speed) ...so that may be why we haven't seen this in the Onix recording being reported yet ...

I did ask Doug and he said they had never seen or heard of it before.

Post it in the open HB forum ... and I'll post my images in your thread ...

This will hopefully start a discussion that could lead to a remedy ...

Like I mentioned ...bass boys use Chart Speed 3-4 ...

They would never see the issue (in the recording) if they don't use Chart Speed 5 or above ...

I'm banned from the Humminbird section of BBC because of an argument over DI from SI some years back.  LOL :-)

I had to send Doug a message on Facebook. ;-)

Maybe if you talk real sweet to AL ..... He would take you back......It would be good to have your input on the forum over there....... Doug is pretty sensitive to comparison threads though.

Here's the link to the thread I started with this issue ...

http://www.bbcboards.net/humminbird-sonar-gps/624777-onix-recording-chart-speed-5-higher.html

Wayne has already verified its on his Onix NT when recording the Simulator ...

Hey John ... Wayne did not see the lines during on the water recording ...

http://www.bbcboards.net/humminbird-sonar-gps/624777-onix-recording-chart-speed-5-higher.html

No one else at bbc seems interested in that discussion ... Those bass boys just don't use that high a chart speed ...

I will test this myself eventually but I have no idea when I'll be able to get my Onix on the water with work duties ...

What makes it worse is that it is intermittent.
