base mount swap 798 matrix 27
« on: April 27, 2013, 10:26:27 AM »
i have a 798 cxSi and a matrix27 are the base mounts interchangeable?
my 798 transducer wont work at high speeds so an option is to move head unit to console where matrix was if it will work...connectors all look the same...but will the dual beam transducer work if i put the 798 head unit on it?? i assume it would with limited functions??

or is a better option to get a Y cable and a switch?

if so what parts number would be required for 798cxsi with:
switch??Y cable??---------------------
 1HDSI transducer
2 dual beam transducer from matrix 27(not sure part #)

Any of these will work Dave.

The 798cXi Si should plug onto the Matrix 27’s base and will be able to use the power cable, GPS Receiver and XHS-9-20-T DualBeam transducer.  If used with only the DualBeam transducer the 798 will not have Si or Di sonar functions.  I would set the Transducer Select menu to the DualBeam setting when using it this way.

If you use the AS-Si-DB-Y cable, the 2D (DualBeam) sonar will always come from the XHS-9-20-T transducer.

If you use the TS3 Transducer Switch you can select which transducer will be supplying the 2D sonar to your 798 unit.  Again, I would set the Transducer Select menu to the DualBeam setting when connected to the XHS-9-20-T transducer.
