Title: New member and a question about 859 HD XD unit
Post by: dfeigel71 on February 17, 2014, 12:37:45 PM
I purchased a Humminbird 859 HD XD and am wondering if I am able to change transducers to get the down imaging feature or do I need the 859 HD DI unit to get this feature?

From the way the Cabelas add for the unit explained this unit had the down imaging but upon looking the unit over and reading the book it only has the extended depth, so would I be better off trying to exchange for the Down Imaging unit or would be just be able to change out the transducer to get the Down Imaging feature?

If I am just able to change out the transducers that would be fine, as I could use the transducer that came with the unit for my smaller inland lake boat and switch the unit between the boats.

It must be a 859ci HD DI Combo ....to have DI...

There is no DI circuitry in the 859ci HD (XD or not)...

I think you would enjoy DI in addition to the Dual Beam 2d...

It gives a different perspective of what is shown on the 2d display...
