So I am adding a 997 C SI to my boat this week that currently has a 787 c2i. If I leave the 787 and it's transducer as a separate unit will I get interference between the two units.
What would be your first choice in how to mount these two units to make them most useful on your fising boat?
Thanks,
Lloyd

Lloyd,

Welcome to the forum.  I have split this post off from the other topic.  Please try not to post a new question in an existing topic.  It would be better to post a new question under a topic that describes what you are asking so users can find your post correctly and your question will get answered. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks and again welcome to the forum!

Thanks for starting that thread for me Robert. I could not and still cannot see a link to start a new thread when the forum pops up. Help me out here! When I clicked on a message I could clearly see several choices including reply. In desparation........well alright, not quite desparation I hit reply.
So I see you have a 997 and 785. What is your advice on using my 787 and 997 together efficiently?
Thanks,
Lloyd

Robert,
I believe I can follow those instructions  although I have to say a clickable "start new thread" would put less strain on my decidedly primitive brain.
So what about leaving the 787 and mounting the 997 independently? Am I likely to have interference between the two transducers?
Thanks,
Lloyd

Lloyd,
Yes you are likely to have sonar-to-sonar interference between the two units – but you may not see the interference on the display of either unit.  If you do, try turning on and up the Noise Filter menu on the unit that is showing the interference.  There are a lot of factors that will add to or subtract from the possibility of having interference between the units (most of which are out of your control) so some days you may have it and some you may not.  Your Humminbirds have some added programming in them to help reduce interference between units.  This works best when it is between two ‘Birds and not so well when another brand is involved.
