My 898c si wiring on Drugs
« on: August 28, 2011, 06:04:14 PM »
Ok gonna place my order for a new unit (898c si) and a few goodies. So a few questions for the experts
1  I have a working Matrix 37, will the transducer from that work with a ts3 switch to give me a wide angle image?
2  I will be adding a weather sense puck and the barometer unit, so I'll need 2 As Yc cables?
3  The NIV bundle worked great on the James River in Va on my 797 unit, can I expect the same from the XD contours?
4  as you can see I've kinda grown old with Humminbird products, why does anybody purchase anything else?  ;)

Jim,

Welcome to the forum.

1. Yes, you can use the Quadrabeam Transducer with the 898 and a TS3.

2. Are you refering to the XM Satelite Weather Reciever and/or the Weather Sense Barometric Pressure Accessory module?  They both have a pass thru cable to daisy chain additional accessories, so you will only need one Y cable.  I will have to check, but I think you get one Y Cable in the box with your 898.  Its been a while since I bought a new unit.

3. Yes, but you will need to check and make sure the James River is covered.

4. They just don't know what they are missing!

Good Luck,

Robert

2.  The 898c Si unit should come with an AS-YC cable.  Robert is right that they will daisy-chain (one plugs into the other which plugs into the 898 unit.

3.  Not sure about the coverage comparison between the NVB and current ContourXD maps for the James River.  Suggest you look at a new unit in a showroom somewhere and see for your self.

Maybe one of the members here can check their unit to see.  You can also check our member Map and see if anyone lives near you.  You can check their profile and see what units they own and maybe shoot them a PM and see if they will check.

Good Luck,

Robert

well it's 98 percent installed and the unit checks out ok, but the xd contour maps sucks eggs on the James river, basically the river ends around windmill point, there is no contour depth lines, just banks and bouys. I gotta wait and see what the Navionic xg1 map does when it gets here.
