Title: 858 to 898 Waypoints, snapshots, recordings and data
Post by: Stumpy on November 11, 2013, 10:06:10 PM
Iv'e just purchased an 898 and want to move all my waypoints, snapshots and recordings etc, from my 858 to the 898. I currently have a Navionics gold card in the 858. What is the easiest way to achieve this?

Export the Nav Data (waypoints, routes and tracks) from the 898 unit onto the SD/SDHC memory card it is using.  Using your computer; make a copy of the entire contents of this memory card onto a second memory card and install it in the 858 unit. Depending on what version software each unit is running will determine what the menu names and locations will be and also if you need to have the 858 unit running before you install the second memory card or not.

I have not tried this myself but it should work.

Cheers Greg, Also is there any difference with the GPS antenna on a 2010 858 and a 2013 898 or are they both exactly the same?

Probably different Stumpy.  The older units were shipped with the GR50 GPS Receiver and the newer ones are shipped with the GRP GPS Receiver.  Performance-wise there should be no measurable difference though.  The GRP requires the unit to be running software version 6.300 of higher.
