Title: Auto Chart Depth Errors
Post by: D Johnson on March 02, 2018, 10:59:24 AM
Good morning I am a new member here and think I have come to the right place for help at least I hope so.  I am running two networked Helix 10 Mega SI units and getting the same shallow water problems that I have read others are having.  I can can understand getting a second and even a third return in shallow water.  Back in the days when we just had flashers we would adjust to get that second return.  Problem is when mapping i an turning my favorite crappie lakes that have a max depth of 12 feet and hard bottom into 60 foot deep lakes.  I am not believing that I am getting 6 bounces.  I am trying to learn on Auto Chart Pro how to correct these lakes but have not been able to do it yet.   Any ideas I am sure i am doing something wrong.  I get the same results using either unit.

My second question is transducer depth.  The transom mount is 12" below the surface and the trolling motor is 28" down.  There fore both units read a different depth and neither the proper depth. The manual says to use the offset setting for changes in lake level.  We use to use offset to adjust transducer depth.  I think I could still use it for that but suspect it would mess up Auto Chart Live. Am I missing something something or just not understanding what I am reading?

Have you tried setting your max depth to say 15 ft instead of using auto depth?  This might help.

Plil I have set my Max Depth to 15 feet, Surface Clutter to 5, and 2D Switch Fire and 2D Image to CLEAR.   Even with the Max Depth set the 2D view jumps to a second bottom line but in 8 feet of water that don't account for AutoChart marking 60 foot contour lines.
