Alarm arrival option for waypoint
« on: April 22, 2012, 06:33:55 PM »
When you set the "Arrival" option on a waypoint to 25 feet, how can you designate it to
specific waypoint and not all of them or is that not an option?

Right off hand I think you have to specify "navigate to" option and that will be a specific waypoint or route.
I will look thru the manual..

What I want to do is use the alarm feature for a couple of shallow rocks that I have marked with  way points.  I want the alarm
to sound off when I get within 25 so I don't hit them.

Now you are asking a good question. I dont right off hand know how to set an alarm that will always be on for a particular target.
In the mean time I would put an icon on the rocks so you will see that you are approaching..

The Arrival Alarm was designed to be used to notify you when you get within XX feet of a waypoint.  If you want to use a waypoint to designate an obstruction than that is your right to do so however this will only work with one waypoint at a time and you will have to set the unit to “GOTO” or travel to that waypoint.  I do not believe that it will work in the manner in which you want.  What you are looking for would be a new feature.

CF, I check thru several of the HB manuals and dont see a way to associate a particular point  with an alarm.
It seems the feature is to alert you to a select goto or navigate a route function and let you know when you are approaching a turn or progress point.
It is a different alarm than "drift" or off course settings.
I think it is a good idea and you might want to submit it via the wish list on this forum.
