ALL SI Models - Provide a field bootstrap for linus processors
« on: January 17, 2013, 01:54:45 PM »
Model:
ALL SI Models
Suggested Upgrade:
Provide a field bootstrap for linus processors
Explanation:
With the introduction of the linus processors and the insbility of HBPC to bootstrap, we need this feature to be brought back to help with field software generated "hangs" which render the unit inoperable causing a return to the factory.

Of course that may not be possible for our present units, if the function isn't already there in a service menu, because it would probably have to be in non-volatile memory.

Of course HB could allow us to re-flash the non volatile memory as an option..... What the heck the unit would be bricked anyway, or we wouldn't be bootstrapping...... :'(

Heck even with my oldest cheapest laptop I can re-flash the non-volatile memory as a last resort.... :-\

Let's hope it is just an issue with HBPC...

Edit:

Oh what the h*ll let's get real.... we are re-flashing the non-volatile memory in these units when we do a firmware update anyway..... ;)
