You won't lose any of your waypoints, tracks, or routes.
You are supposed to set the unit to the default settings
before and after an update.

So, once the update is finished,
you will have to go back through all the menus and
choose any custom settings that you had previously
set.

To play it safe, backup your NAV data to an SD card
before you do an update.

See the last post on this thread for Humminbird Greg's recommendation  http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=4379.msg27738#msg27738 (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=4379.msg27738#msg27738)

Here are some more tips

Here are a couple of videos that Rgecy did a couple of years ago that are very good.  http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=666.msg2960#msg2960 (http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=666.msg2960#msg2960)

He doesn't go through the process of saving and deleting Nav Data that Greg recommends, but I would do that before starting Roberts proceedure.......Make absolutely SURE you have a good backup by putting getting your Nav Data onto your computer before you delete it off the unit.
