Does anyone have info on the new 2014 models such as the 999ci HD SI? Specifically, will the new models have an increase in screen resolution (i.e. more pixels) over the previous generation models?
I know that with the current models, the pixel density decreases as screen size increases (see http://www.catfish1.com/forums/showthread.php?195929-Humminbird-Screen-Size-V-S-Screen-Clarity (http://www.catfish1.com/forums/showthread.php?195929-Humminbird-Screen-Size-V-S-Screen-Clarity)!). I'm starting to see deals on the current stock so I'm wondering what the new models will bring to the table in terms of increase screen clarity via increased pixel density.

I think I just answered my own question. The 10" ONIX model (http://store.humminbird.com/products/748449/ONIX10ci_Combo (http://store.humminbird.com/products/748449/ONIX10ci_Combo)) will have a 1024x768 whereas the 1198's 10.4" screen is 800x600. Not sure about the other models since there isn't info on the Humminbird website yet.

The Onix and Ion models were acquired from another company so they aren't really the same as the 1198/1199, 998/999, or 898/899 comparison.
I don't think the x99 models will have any screen resolution changes, just an extra button and some silk screening on the faceplate(more white outlining).

The ONIX and ION models were not acquired from another company.
The new 800 and 900 series units still use an 800H X 480V LCD.

The ION series look like GeoNav units.

Yes look like because all boxe is from, but all in is different, new electronic, new soft Humminbird don't change the packaging but only the most interesting!! waiting the manuel to get more information!!

The user interface/controls are just about all that was kept from the GeoNav design; the internal electronics, software and even the material for the housings were changed.
-
I just saw the new Ion and Onix models on the Humminbird web site last night. There's very little information on them. They must have just been introduced. I'd like to know more about their capabilities and when they'll be available for purchase.

If so, why did you buy an 1198? I would think software would be an important part of the package.

Will be looking forward to it. Please see what you can find out about the transducer for the ONIX.....supposed to have a dedicated Di crystal. Wondering what the frequencies are for the various crystals.
Thanks.

Sounds fair enough. I'm at a level now that does what I need and works well, so I'm sitting tight.
-
Any new information available on these units yet? I'd really like to have one by the time the ice melts in March.
-
Waiting to buy one in Mars (date for France users) maybe a onix Cp +black box for chirp transducer+2 side transducers (one by side for my boat). Screen very better qualityn and a spécific transducer for DI! Will wait for 360!
-
There is some information on the ONIX model units on the Humminbird web site.
No information for the ION model units yet.
-
For ION, what I see (and play with, easy to use) at Paris Boat Show is no GPS internal antenna, but USB plug (1 for 10'or 2 for 12'), wifi internet compatible, no sounder, it need black box for (SMxxxx to choose). Keyboard little change.
Same quality for screen, same map (navionic, CMAP4d (great!!))+autochart

I have had an order in for the ONIX for about a month now. As soon as I get it and install it I will post some pics.
