Hi,
Don't let the lowest price be your only decision point when purchasing something off the internet. I'm not saying anything about this particular website but I always check the URL by Googling, Binging, or whatever you like to use before a purchase. EG : use "amazon.com review" as a search criteria and lookover the results.

Roger, that is good advice. Especially with the internet.
With todays marketing,,, sellers will use any thing they can to lure the customer in. The old bait and switch sales.
I am not saying that this is the case here but as the old saying goes. Let the buyer beware. Especially if the sale is ebay.
It is good that you posted so as to remind the folks to check into the deal and make sure they are getting a good price..
I think that so far on this forum the sales have been good for those using the classisfied tab..

Someone here had mentioned the site I linked and was very happy with the product and service.

If you are getting ready to pull the trigger on a new unit, check out the 25th anniversary sale happening at Three Rivers Marine from the 23-25th. They are supposed to be having some awesome prices, but not advertised yet.
They have an excellent reputation also.

I purchased my 798 about two years ago from Unirversal Mania. They were the best price I could find at the time. They processed the order and I received it in a short time. I did have to ask for an invoice for warrantee purposes. They sent a pdf file.
I have also purchased assesory items from Just4electronics. Prices are low, but shipping is a little steep. Also took a couple of phone calls to find out where the items were. In the end, I'd probably buy assessories again from them.

Just bought a 1198 from Universal mania, they provided very good service and unit came with latest software. Best of all was the great price.

I place my order for my 998 c si on Saturday they didn't open till Monday today is Wednesday and it was delivered this afternoon.Free shipping and no tax i got my 998 for 1649$...It was delivered in mint condition i couldn't be happier ;D with their service.I highly recomend this place if you wanna buy a new unit.....JIM

I had tacklewarehouse.com price match universal. Not that I don't trust them but I like to deal with tw when I can. They run a good site.

I got a 1198 at factoryoutletstore.com in a combo package for just over 2600 that includes a 3 year ext. warranty and an extra 90 some dollar trolling motor transducer (which was very reasonably priced also). Ordered it on Saturday morning and it was here Wednesday. No shipping and no taxes <<<why I cant deal with basspro,, taxes, shipping and 2799 just for the unit,, waaay to much

Don't want to be negative......but.....I was looking at buying from the factoryoutletstore.com because the extended warranties looked very appealing.
I did some searches and found some very bad reviews about them.....especially in regard to the extended warranty.
Also, be aware that they are in no way affiliated with Humminbird. They try to look like the are a Humminbird factory store, but they are not.
Hope you have better luck than some of the reviews indicate. :-\

We have ordered 4 Humminbird units from http://www.universalmania.com/_e/dept/32-004/Marine.htm (http://www.universalmania.com/_e/dept/32-004/Marine.htm) with no problem, service was great and fast, even had one unit dropped shipped to another state with no problems. They are located in NC. Best price I could find.

The problem with internet quotes and reviews is just just never know how authentic they really are. "Thomas Edison"
that being said I`m really not too worried about a warranty since Humminbird takes care of their customers and they have a flat rate for repair, which I hope I never have to find out about

Maybe he was referring to the fact that Thomas Edison was credited with many inventions that he did not actually invent.

Thomas was ahead of his time. We have that exact problem today many times over..
