HD transducer or not HD
« on: November 06, 2014, 11:07:52 AM »
Hello,
I have a 598 HD SI combo unit and after a few trips the transducer was gone It must have got cut from stump or something.
the original transducer came with it is XHS 9 HDSI 180 T  but I replace it with the  XNT 9 SI 180 T  it works fine but I don't know what is it supposed to look like compare with the original transducer.  I don't know if I should replace with the original unit and could I tell the different between the two

Thank you for your help

banhtrang,
The original transducer for the 598 units was the XNT-9-Si-180-T.  The XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducers were only shipped out with some of the larger 800/900/1100 series Si model units.

The larger XHS-9-HDSi-180-T transducer will give a more detailed 455kHz Si sonar reading but you may not be able to see it on the smaller display of the 598 unit.  Some do and some don’t so there is no way for us to say one way or the other if you will be able to see the difference or not.

I can see the difference on the HDSI XDCR when used on 455 KHz, whether its on my 798ci SI or my 899ci HDSI.
The HDSI imaging crystals are considerable longer and produce a thinner beam pulse for higher definition images.

HD denotes HiDef - but it was also used to distinguish the LED backlit units at one time also.
