Rudiger, The last two tow fish I have with CAT8 cable.
Broader band with and 1750 lbs braking strength so there is no need for a steel cable which makes life better!

I use patch cable, because it is not so stiff as the installation cable.

Roddy,
Do you mean this cable: http://www.singlepointnetworks.co.uk/cat8cable.asp ? Do they specify a break load or have you tested that yourself? What makes this a siamese cable?

Rickard, Yes and the spec sheet states 1750 lbs test.

I hung the tow fish in a wk mine sweeper, had to work it free and had no damage to the cable and a few dings to the fish.

Hi Roddy,

I have been in contact with Paul Gillett from singlepoint networks. He wrote me the cable they use is manufactured by Leoni Kerpen in Germany, and therefore I should better buy it in germany directly to avoid shipping costs. The Leoni type numer is 7KS800001. Normaly the type number and the type (MegaLine G12-150) is printed on the cable - perhaps you could confirm?

I took a look into the spec sheet and found something confusing - this type of cable is only allowed for a maximum of 130N (13kg, about 30lbs) tensile load?

Since I'm very interested in a single cable for an affordable price with that strength you posted below you could perhaps give some more information on your cable?

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Flo

A cable is no rope at which it arrives at the ultimate load.
If a cable is important to the max. tension in the long run it can tolerate without damage.
