I have a Humminbird HELIX 5 CHIRP SI GPS G2 and I'm doing some fresh water (limnology) marine archaeology with associated lake mapping. I have searched, but can't find a method of extracting the LAT, LONG, DEPTH info from the Humminbird SONAR files. I need to get this in some type of ASCII format (CSV, etc., even unformatted if only available) so that I can import it to EXCEL and modify data for subsequent export to a more sophisticated scientific contouring program.
Does anyone know where I can find a 3rd party software that can do this extraction. I can deal with extracting more info than the needed LAT/LONG/DEPTH data in Excel ... but it is really only the LAT/LONG/DEPTH that I want. I called Humminbird tech support and they said it is not available from their proprietary format. I find this hard to believe as folks like Navionics certainly extract it.
Appreciate any help or links or suggestions on how I can extract this data from the Humminbird SONAR files for subsequent use.

Hi Mike
Welcome to the forum :)
Possibly this is possible with the help of the HumViewer software. Water depth and position data are from the boat but not from the sonartarget.

You can use Reefmaster for that !

Humviewer will export lat/lon, date/time, depth, speed and heading to a csv file IF it can read the sonar files for your unit. I have a 738SI that I have successfully done this with. One caveat, if I remember correctly, csv export was broken in the latest release. I believe you need version 67 for that feature to work. If you need a copy, PM me and I'll send you the one I have. I have gotten it to work with Win XP, Win7 and Win10 in the past.
