I just installed a 998C SI on my 23' deep V center console. I also installed the Y cable and an in-hull puck transducer thinking I'd get better depth readings while on plane with this configuration. From what I've read, the 998C automatically switches to the in-hull transducer, but I don't understand what triggers it to switch from the SI transducer to the in-hull puck and back again? Also, is there a way to force the 998C to turn on the in-hull transducer so that I can test it out? Right now I have no idea when I'm using it and when I'm not. I have temporarily mounted the in-hull transducer inside a piece of pipe that is glued to the hull in the bilge. I filled the pipe with water and weighted the transducer down with a bag of sand. If I get good readings at the current location I'll epoxy it in place.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
