NMEA 2000 AS ETH NMEA2K

(1/1)

CharlieSea:
I have an 898 SI I recently added Radar and its using the Ethernet port. I'm now adding a Raymarine EV-200 Sport Pilot it will use NMEA 2000 Seatalk I believe it will interface with my 898 using this correct: AS ETH NMEA2K? Do I need that for NMEA 2000 on my 898? Seems like I do but this talks about fuel consumption ext.

If so is there an Ethernet splitter or would I need the network hub as well to have both the radar and the NMEA 2000

Thanks for any help as I'm not too familiar with the NMEA 2000 interface. Not even sure its worth trying to interface the Raymarine EV-200 Sport Pilot with my 898?

If the EV-200 requires an NMEA 2000 connection it will have to come through the AS-ETH-NMEA2K NMEA 2000 Black Box accessory which connects to the Ethernet connection on the Humminbird unit.  Since you are already using the Ethernet connection you will have to install an AS-ETH-5PXG 5-Port Ethernet Switch as well.  I don’t know if the EV-200 will even work with your 898 unit.

The Black Box works and shows some devices however, I have the 999si HD and tried to get it to work with my EV-200.  Basically I needed the GPS from my Humminbird to use on my EV-200 for plotting - does not work and cannot get humminbird to answer why not.  I plugged in a Ray Marine unit and everything worked so its not the network.   Terrible Humminbird service response and looks like I will be moving over to Ray Marine totally.   I guess if you didn't buy the AutoPilot from Humminbird they have selective help for you.
