1197si No Depth on screen
« on: May 16, 2016, 12:56:06 PM »
I recently installed a new transducer transom mounted and ran the wire up to Y connection. When I power up the unit the Depth does not show up on the head unit. The readouts along the bottom of the screen do not include depth although I have set it on the menu.

Sounds like the system isn't seeing the 2D element ..... need more details about what transducer you installed.  Did you add a 2D to the transom or a new SI?

What was your reason for the new transducer?

I installed a new SI transducer on the Starboard side as the old one failed at the seam and began to separate.

So .... do you have 2 SI transducers?  One for each side of the boat?

I would try to connect the new right side transducer directly to the unit and see what you get.

There are 2 SI transducers one on each side. I will try direct connection. Still wouldn't the screen Depth readout box be on the display. It does show temp.

I may have mis-interpreted your post ..... If you display the 2D on your unit, do you get a correct bottom reading .... does the SI and display of the water column work correctly?

I was thinking your 2D wasn't working, and you may just have a readout problem.

i'm wanting to make sure your 2D transducer is working correctly ....If you go to a standard 2D sonar view, do you get a good bottom reading?  This won't work right if not in the water.
