Topic: Humminbird PC thinks I'm invisible

i bought a 798ci si the other day.  I registered it on the website, downloaded the HB PC stuff, and tried to search for updates.  When I opened the HB PC none of my info (model#, softwear version, etc.) was listed.  I tried to use the tool for searching for updates.   It said my model was unknown, and I was unable to add the information.  It seems like my info did not get transferred to the HB PC.  I am not overly computer-savvy.  I probably missed something basic.  I appreciate the help.  Sam

Welcome to the forum.  This is normal.  It will not show your unit info unless you have loaded files in from the SD card or have the unit connected directly to the computer.

Do you have any waypoints on the unit yet?  If so, you can export all the nav data to the sd card and then import the data into Humminbird PC.  Your unit info will show when you insert the SD card.

I feel better now.  I did load an update on the SD card for the 798 unit  from the HB website.  I used a card reader and the E drive.  When I went to HB PC it still didn't have any of my info.  It just showed a very thin sliver of the pie was being utilized with info.  Still no model number,etc.  I will try to power the unit up sometime and make a couple of way points.  Thanks for the info.   Sam
