To shorten my learning curve a bit and get set up perfect right out the bat, please help me put these parts together as well as recommend options and upgrades to get the best use of my equipment. I primarily use these units to fish for walleyes.
Here is what I have:
2 - 1197si (with most recent softwar update)
2 - Interlinks
2 - GPS pucks
1 - Wethersense
1 - "Y" cable that has NMEA on one end and COMM on the other end.
Right now I have the two 1197's hooked up to one of the interlinks. The Weather sense is inline on the dash unit. One of the two GPS units is plugged into the interlink.
I believe I need to hook up the gps pucks with the "Y" connector to get faster refresh speeds and more accurate boat positions. I plan on ordering another "Y" cable to complete this task.
Whate other options besided Cannonlink and XM weather can I add to this system? Is there any other networking needs. Should I connect them via ethernet?

You would get a faster GPS update rate with a GPS Receiver connected to each 1197 unit, but since you will have to buy a second AS-YC Y-cable to do this, why not instead purchase one of the AS-EC cables and have both units connected via Ethernet? You could then direct connect both GPS Receivers to the 1197 units you have and get the faster refresh rate too.

That eliminates the need for the interlink right?
I can also then see the si and di sonar on the bow even though the transducer is hooked up to the console unit right?
I would still need the Y adapter cable to daisy chain in the weather sense right?

Correct.
I don’t know if this will or can be added to the Ethernet data at a later date.
