Title: Helix 5 Sonar GPS. Navionics card.

Hi,  New to the forum.  Lots of useful information here.

I live in Ontario Canada. 

I'm interested in Navionics+ for my Helix5 sonar GPS.  I primary just need maps for Ontario.

Every map/chip I try to buy on the Navionics web site, they tell me my unit is not compatible.

what maps is everyone using for their helix5 in Canada?  Do I have to buy a Navionics card then go to the website and update it?  or do I buy a micro SD card and download the maps from there website?  I'm lost.  any help is appreciated.

Here is the current compatibility that lists your HELIX 5 ...

There are reports on the forums that the new 16bg Navionics + cards bog the smaller HELIX 5 processor down because of so much data containing the lakes for the entire US and Canada ...

But it is also reported this 16gb Navionics + card can be deleted and only re-load the very lakes you want to the card ...

Zoom into your lakes on the Navionics webapp to see exactly what data is available for download today ...as every day data is updated somewhere ...

ok, I get this part.

Do I buy a navionics card from a store first or can I buy everything online on their web site?

Either way ... Once you receive the card ...then you would contact Navionics with registration information which gives you 1 year of Freshest updates subscription ...

When that year is up ... You either stop getting updates and your card stays at the last detail level you uploaded ... Or you can re-subscribe for another year of Freshest Updates for $99 ...
