Title: ALL SI Models - software that allows tracks to remain on units when it is shut down
Post by: albe on November 29, 2011, 12:39:14 PM
Model:
ALL SI Models
Suggested Upgrade:
software that allows tracks to remain on units when it is shut down
Explanation:
At times I forget that I have to save all tracks I made during a fishing trip and have forgotten to save any of the information for that trip before shutting off the unit. If I shut of the 998 without saving any tracks, you lose them when you shut off the unit; only waypoints I made during the trip are still there when I turn the unit back on. Tracks should not require saving before turning off a unit.

That feature was added to our units before the 998c Si units were sold, so your unit should have that capability now.  You should be able to power your unit back on and perform a Save Current Track and it save the last track that it has to the unit’s memory.  Try this next time you are out and see if it works or not.

albe, My Unit does that. I have to clear the screen and start over after each use.

Update the software in your unit (all models not just the Si models) albe and it should be there.

In fact we have gotten requests to be able to turn this feature off…

As with most user function there should be the option to use or not.  I agree that the feature to turn on or off is needed.
Give the user contgrol over his/her unit..
